On a surprisingly warm February afternoon, Jessica’s family proudly gathered to celebrate Daniel as he came home for short time after completing his Marine’s Bootcamp. Daniel’s sister wanted to put something special together to honor his accomplishment, and I was more than happy to help!
Marelee came up with most of the ideas herself. My job was to help execute her plan. She had so many special little touches, and the party was a well-kept surprise!
As guests arrived they were asked to write a note to Daniel with words of encouragement. We added pictures of his platoon and I created signs that would be important for Daniel. They included “Oorah”, “Fighting Fifth”, and “Semper Fi”.
We kept the centerpieces fairly simple. Dyed rice with flags, candles, and burlap table runners created a masculine and festive look.
Guests had the opportunity to take photos using Marines themed props- including the Marine himself!
Toy soldiers were available to take home to remind guests to pray for our men and women serving our country.
And of course, there had to be desserts- all of Daniel’s favorites! The backdrop was created using flags that their grandpa had as a proud Marine. Marelee painted the letter “D” and added the platoon details. I made a banner for the front of the table but kept the rest fairly simple since Daniel didn’t want a fuss.
How amazing are these cookies? And they tasted divine too!
This was such a meaningful party and I was so happy I got to help bring all of Marelee’s ideas to life!
