Creating and executing an event plan that you’re proud of and has the look you want is always exciting. But there is an exponentially higher level of excitement when the event is for someone you love! Now when it’s for the person you normally plan events WITH, it does add a layer of stress since you can’t bounce ideas off of them. However, I was so overjoyed with this llama fiesta for my best friend and her cute little family.
When Jessica found out she was pregnant with a girl I immediately knew what I wanted the theme to be. I put the suggestion of llamas out there to see what would happen and thankfully she was really into it. I always frame my theme around plans for the nursery. That way some of the shower decor can be reused! Jessica found this Creative Market graphics pack by DillyPeach (not affiliated or sponsored) that I purchased and everything evolved around it.
This event would not have come together without help from Jessica’s mom, sisters, mother-in-law, husband, and my mom. So many people helped make this a success!
The Room
I’ve used this room may times before so I know the layout well. I wanted the main focus to be on the fireplace with a giant balloon garland. This was my first and I learned so much creating it! I found the chair at a thrift (and totally fought a lady for it!) that Jess could use as a nursing chair afterwards. I added cute little pieces to the mantle and it was all set!
I made my own papel picado using copy paper and my Silhouette Cameo. They’re all customized to match the shower. I didn’t take a great photo but this gives you an idea.
The Tables
I chose to go light and airy for the base of the tables. I used white linens, light pink organza overlays, and arranged paper doilies to go under the centerpieces.
I may have gone a little crazy with the centerpieces…but what’s new?! My dad bought me a scroll saw so I put it to good use and cut out all of the cacti myself. I then sanded and painted them, added a few tiny poms, and cut bases for them using extra 2x4s we had around the house.
To stick with the theme I chose really bright colorful florals. Roses, carnations, stock, gerberas, baby’s breath, and solidago were gorgeous in pink vases I picked up at a yard sale. I made tassels out of embroidery floss and tied them to the jars.
For each place setting I cut out a llama, folded gold striped napkin, utensils, cup, and bright coaster.
Guest Book
Instead of using a traditional guest book, I had Jessica’s loved ones write their name on a heart and drop it in a shadow box frame. I picked the box up at Target in the dollar spot and added Hola Bebe in vinyl on the front. I painted the little wooden hearts to match the rest of the decor.
Favors
Anybody else absolutely in love with succulents??? I know I am! I purchased these cute little plastic pots on AliExpress and added tags for a final touch. I found this cart at an estate sale that once belonged to my dad’s cousin. It’s now one of my favorite pieces!
Bow Station
Every little girl needs a bow to match every outfit right? I created a fun little station filled with all sorts of supplies. It was such a big hit!
Even Daddy got in on the action. His was Game of Thrones inspired, of course! I even made the cute little holder to which they are clipped.
Desserts
I’m so in love with this dessert table! Not only was it adorable, the treats were SO delicious! We had strawberry and confetti cupcakes, donuts, brownies, and the most most most adorable llama cookies. The backdrop had twinkle lights and pom poms lovingly made by Jessica’s mom.
Photo Backdrop
I’m utterly obsessed with balloons right now. Not only did I make the amazing garland for the mantle, I also made this life size cactus out of 5″ green balloons and PVC pipe using the Oh Happy Day instructions. The backdrop on the wall was created by fringing plastic tablecloths.
I am so happy with how this turned out! It was so bright and happy, and so many people came out to celebrate my bestie!
